The year 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the first manned lunar landing. On that landing, Buzz Aldrin worn the Omega Speed-master professional Moon Watch. Paying tribute to this milestone event in both aviation history and Omega watch-making history, Omega has released the Speed-master professional Moon Watch Apollo 11 40th Anniversary diminutive Edition.
Obviously, the new watch carries the features of the traditional one while it is endowed with a few major distinctions. The case is 42mm at diameter. It has incorporated with a special crystal made of acrylic compound. This material has excellent shatter-proof performance. However, it gets scratches easily. The Omega logo has been etched inside the crystal.

The medallion, a emblem of peace, was designed by Michael Collins, the Command Module Pilot in the Apollo 11 capsule. It depicts an eagle approaching the moon outside with an olive branch in its claws while the earth is descriptive far above the horizon.The dial also showcases "02:56 Gmt"- the exact time that Nail Armstrong made his "one small step" onto the moon-in red.
The Speed-master professional Moon Watch Apollo 11 40th Anniversary diminutive Edition watch is ready in platinum version(limited to 69 pieces) and stainless steel version(limited to 7969 pieces). The medallion is the only thing to tell two versions apart. The gold is for platinum version while the sterling silver is applied on stainless steel version.
Beneath the good looking, there beats a manually-wound Omega 1891 movement, the same movement used in the traditional Speed-master professional Moon Watch. In addition, the watch adopts Omega patented screw and pin law on the upgraded bracelet.
